First tablet with overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip

First, we had gaming consoles and later gaming PCs. Then, gaming smartphones became a thing. Now, Redmagic, the gaming sub-brand of Nubia, has launched a gaming tablet, known literally as the Redmagic Nova Gaming Tablet.

Sure, this is certainly not the first gaming tablet to ever be produced, but it’s still pretty rare to see one around, which is what makes it interesting. So, if you’ve wished your gaming smartphone to come with a bigger screen, this is probably the answer to your dream.

Redmagic Nova Gaming Tablet is the first tablet with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version chip

Since this is a gaming tablet, let’s talk about what’s under its “hood” first shall we? Nubia says the Nova Gaming Tablet is the first tablet to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Leading Version, which is essentially an overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. Specifically, the CPU is clocked at up to 3.4GHz and is paired to the Adreno 750 GPU, clocked at 1GHz. The gaming tablet is then equipped with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, depending on the variant chosen, and comes with 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

Scoring 2,352,902 on the AnTuTu benchmark, Nubia says this makes the Nova Gaming Tablet the only tablet capable of handling AAA games for serious gamers. To keep it running fast and cool during intense gaming sessions, the Redmagic Nova Gaming Tablet is fitted with a 9-layer cooling system, paired with a 20,000RPM fan that illuminates.

The Nova Gaming Tablet is packed with Redmagic Cube AI and Gravity X 2.0 to elevate your gaming experience by providing multiple game modes and enhanced connectivity. Also included is Redmagic Game Space 2.0 which comes with performance tuning, graphics switching, and accessory control.

Gaming Tablet with gaming-themed design

Looks-wise, the Redmagic Nova Gaming Tablet is designed with ultra-futuristic principles in mind and features a look that’s both minimalistic and futuristic. It sports an all-metal body with an aviation-grade aluminium frame and a glass front. To enhance its durability, Nubia has also equipped it with a CNC-carved middle frame, a 45-degree anti-slip chamfer, and an anodised back cover.

The designers have also fitted the Nova Gaming Tablet with a transparent element, right below the rear camera housing, showcasing parts of the device’s internal components. To make sure the transparent element is durable enough, it’s integrated with lens-grade aluminosilicate glass, making it resistant towards wear and scratch. This is then combined with custom RGB lights that incorporate the Redmagic logo and the turbofan.

2.8K 144Hz IPS LCD display with up to 10 hours of gaming on a single charge

At the front of the Redmagic Nova Gaming Tablet is a 10.9-inch 2.8K IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 resolution. Yes, this might not be the crowd-favourite OLED panel, but it does have a gaming-friendly 144Hz refresh rate and an 840Hz touch sampling rate. Nubia has also made the screen SGS-certified, filtering blue light to reduce eye strain.

In the imaging department, the Redmagic Nova Gaming Tablet features a 50MP rear camera that’s capable of recording videos at up to 4K/30fps, and a 20MP front camera that can film videos at up to 1080p/30fps. It also comes with an LED flash.

Nubia has fitted its gaming tablet with a quad stereo speaker setup for you to enjoy your games with, as well as a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Supplying power to the Redmagic Nova Gaming Tablet is a 10,100mAh battery which is said to be capable of offering up to 10 hours of gaming sessions on a single charge, or up to 18.7 hours under daily usage circumstances. Topping up the battery can be done via 80W fast wired charging using USB-C. Software-wise, the Redmagic Nova Gaming Tablet runs on the brand’s Redmagic OS, on top of Android 14.
