His legacy with the national team inspired an entire generation of Argentine players, including De Paul. De Paul is often joked about being Messi’s bodyguard because he always walks next to this man and protects M10 when there are problems on the field.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder told All About Argentina: “I’m very afraid of the day Messi no longer plays for the national team. I always talk about it with him. Everything is easier with him. All our comfort is due to him. He is the foundation of all of this.”
